This is a 4K print of the same remaster painstakingly overseen by film director Christopher Nolan earlier this year.

Writes Nolan:

“2001 to me is the most cinematic film that has ever been made and it has been an honor and a privilege to be able to share the film with a new generation.”

Nolan, who has long been a fan of the film and of Stanley Kubrick’s work as a whole, worked alongside the Warner Bros. Pictures team throughout the process of mastering this film for 4K.

The 4K presentation was mastered from the original 65mm camera negative, and includes the ORIGINAL 6-track theatrical audio mix.

As Nolan stated in an interview with Variety:

“The team also went back to the original six-track soundtrack and faithfully transferred it to the new prints. “The film is mixed in a very extreme way,” Nolan says with awe. “There are incredible sonic peaks that are beyond anything anyone would do today.”
